Jeroen ‘Erosie’ Heeman (1976) lives and works in Eindhoven and graduated cum laude from the Willem de Kooning Academy Rotterdam in 2000, after which he followed a versatile trajectory in various disciplines such as illustration, typography, graffiti and visual arts. He is primarily interested in the relationship between signature and line art, the tension between writing and drawing skills. This is expressed in a personal visual language of symbols, amorphous signs, and characters that are reminiscent of typographic forms, architectural ornaments, and symbolic references but always contain personal handwriting. The work reflects his broad visual background and interest and he also seeks a personal relationship between structure and intuition through the often improvised ordering. In addition to intensive iterative research in his sketchbooks, he always tries to find new applications and combinations through drawings, paintings, collages, printing techniques and of course on walls and buildings, both inside and outside.
Jeroen has done very diverse exhibitions at home and abroad, in galleries, art institutions, museums and on walls from Berlin to Osaka, from Paris to Rotterdam.
